Whitaker, 90, of Louisville, Ky. and formerly of Jasonville passed away at 3:25 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 in her Kentucky residence.She was born May 19, 1927 in Rensselaer, Ind. to Mancil S. Newgent and Carrie (Tilton) Newgent.Survivors include her son and his wife, Matthew L. Whitaker and Shannon Burch of Louisville, Ky. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary P. Lynn and Virginia “Ginny” Quantz; brother, Gene Newgent.Jody had worked at Peoples Trust Company and Miller Mining.Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, IN; coxfuneralhomejasonville.com. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services are 11 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Cox Funeral Home.Interment will be at Peavey Cemetery in Howesville.Jody loved flowers, but if people prefer they can donate in her name to Peavey Cemetery, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church or the National Audobon Society. He was born April 29, 1996, in Round Rock, Texas. Brian graduated with honors from Burnet High School in 2014, where he played on the varsity basketball and tennis teams. He was currently attending Texas A&M University where he was studying Ocean Engineering and was to graduate in May. Brian was a die-hard Aggie and receiving his Aggie ring was one of his proudest moments.Brian had a love for life that was evident to everyone who knew him. He enjoyed playing basketball, hiking, fishing, camping, kayaking and seeing God’s handiwork in the mountains, lakes, rivers and sunsets. He also enjoyed taking his beloved dog “Goose” to run and swim. Brian loved a good political discussion, watching his Golden State Warriors play, and Texas Aggies football.He was genuine, thoughtful, caring and fun loving. He had an amazing love for his friends and especially for his family. Brian made an impact in so many peoples’ lives. He made people feel special, loved, and was always there for others. We find comfort knowing that Brian loved the Lord and is now with Him in a better place.Brian is preceded in death by his grandfather, M.G. Davis.Those left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Dan and Lisa Bullock of Burnet; his sister, Abby Bullock of Burnet; his grandparents, Jeanne Davis of Plano and Ed and Peggy Bullock of Kingsland; aunts and uncles, Stuart and Linda Stevenson of Plano, Ed and Patricia Bullock of Kyle, Phil and Kimberly Bullock of Dripping Springs, Paul and Tara Bullock of Algoa, and Jeff and Sheri Bullock of League City.Also left behind is his best friend and cousin, Patrick Bullock; cousins Philip and Samantha Bullock, Brenden Bullock, Jacob and Devan Bullock, Amanda Bullock and Kelsey Koenig, Trista Bullock, Sarah and Stephen Schmidt, Trevor and Veronica Bullock, Spencer Johnson, Riley Johnson, John and Nicole Stevenson, Lee and Victoria Farmer, and extended family.Visitation will be held Friday, July 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. She was born May 9, 1932, in Greenfield, Tenn. She was the widow of Lewis Roberts.Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with burial at West Mt. Zion.She is survived by four daughters, Ellamae Purdion of Tomball, Texas, Diane Applegate of Ferriday, La., Alyce Purdion of Rosenberg, Texas, Sherry Filkins of Tomball, Texas; two sons, Ray Fultz of Tomball, Robert Fultz of Ola; a sister, Jean Hudson; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be open at the funeral home.
